What Our Clients Are Saying
At Coquina Canine, we believe transformation is possible—and our clients agree. Here’s what families are saying about their experience with our training programs.
I cannot recommend Sydney and enough. I called as soon as I started seeing challenging/biting behaviors from my rescue dog and they were extremely responsive from the start. She literally texted me back at 8pm less than an hour after I submitted my inquiry form on their site which made me feel like I wasn’t alone when going through something stressful with my dog. Since that point Sydney has gone above and beyond with my dog Iris. After her two week board and train she is so much more confident, she is e collar trained in a way that makes it a very positive experience for her, and our communication is so much clearer which decreases the frustration that used to lead to challenging behavior. The peace of mind from having the right tools like a properly conditioned e collar is incredible. Sydney truly loved Iris like her own while she was at her house and I looked forward to the amazing updates Sydney. Thank you Sydney!

My Golden was almost 7 years old when we found Sydney and it was the best experience and training I could have asked for. At the time he went to Sydney, I had broken my foot, thanks to him, and I was in a wheelchair. Sydney went out of her way to find a wheelchair and train my boy with it to make sure he wasn't scared of it! She went above and beyond and I thank her for everything. I loved Wrangler before but I love him more since Sydney!

Sydney, is the absolute best!!! She is extremely knowledgeable, caring, kind, warm, sincere, and passionate trainer. During our consultation listening to how Sydney would be interacting with Sebastian put our mind at ease. We were apprehensive about the e-collar as we felt it might be a negative experience. Sydney not only reassured us through conversation but through numerous training videos the positive impact the e-collar has when training Sebastian. It was conditioned positively and in a manner where we use the lowest level possible to achieve the desired result. Throughout Sydney’s educational videos she would send of Sebastian’s training while he was gone she thoroughly explained everything she was doing and why she was doing it. Sydney, would follow up with any questions we had. She would even show us the levels she would use on the e- collar up close in the videos so we knew exactly the levels she was working with. Since Sydney used the e-collar in a very positive way and it was a positive experience for Sebastian we can use the e-collar for nuisance behaviors and still have a positive effect on Sebastian. Sebastian spent 4 weeks in training, at Sydney’s… It is the best spent money you’ll ever spend. Sebastian learned SO MUCH!!!! Daily, Sydney sent videos explaining what Sebastian was learning and how his day was going. Sebastian met some new friends which he loved interacting with. From her videos, you can tell how much Sydney not only loves training….. also, how much she loves the dogs in her care. If you’re looking for the most knowledgeable, respective, effective, genuine, authentic trainer look no further than Sydney. Some just go the extra mile, Sydney is one of those people.
When Sydney brought Sebastian back she taught us and gave us the tools necessary for both Sebastian and us to be successful in taking over where Sydney left off. He is a changed pup because of this program and we are changed owners!

Our sweet dog Aldo had issues with unpredictable reactivity and jumping on people. Even
though he was 6, we knew we needed help after he pulled me down and I broke a finger. We first had Jenny coming to the house, but then decided to commit to the 3 week board and train. Sydney was his trainer and I can't say enough good things about her. She kept in touch with us by sending videos every other day or so. It was clear he was learning and they had a great deal of affection for each other. After he came home, she continued with some follow up lessons for all 3 of us. She encouraged us to reach out to her if we had any issues. We all have new tools to deal with scary situations now and feel more confident and relaxed. I can't say we'll never have a bad episode again, but we've been getting through trigger situations simply so far.

I cannot say more good things about Sydney!!!! We sought training when we had our newborn as our puppy Donny had a whole lot of energy. My dog Donny was a special case with a negative association to e collars so trainer Sydney worked with him to turn his e collar association into a positive one thus giving Donny more freedom at home by making our walks and outings way more enjoyable and easy as he is a very excitable puppy. We also have a way to now redirect his energy when he is in the house. We are loving the structure and foundation Sydney gave Donny and so thankful she found a solution to his unique problems. If you are thinking about using Sydney as a trainer do it!
She treats your dogs like they're her own while they are away. Sydney worked on a unique solution for Donny with his hiccups along the way when it came to his negative response to e collar and He now LOVES when I put the ecollar on because he knows it means we get to go outside and have some fun!

We cannot recommend this training enough. If you are questioning the cost, it’s worth it. HANDS DOWN! We have a huge Great Dane/Boerboel that was extremely reactive to all dogs and very hesitant to meet people. We’ve had him since he was a puppy, but had another dog that taught him bad habits. So instead of working on it, we just made sure to keep him away from any other dogs and didn’t introduce him to people. We only had a few people that could watch him if we went on vacation and we would shut him upstairs if people came to the house. Fast forward to 3 weeks after dropping him off with Sydney.
We have a totally different dog. Sydney is the best and we cannot have imagined a better pairing! We didn’t want to send him to a trainer that would just force him to do something, because I physically cannot force a 170lb dog to do something he doesn’t want. Sydney completely changed his viewpoint on life and ensured him that we’ve “got him”. She spend her ENTIRE Sunday showing us how to be better dog parents for him. We were able to walk him around the neighborhood and even went to a busy park and were able to walk by other dogs and introduce him to some neighbors! While he would have been just fine lounging around and playing in the backyard for the rest of his years, he now has the opportunity to come out on walks with us, go on adventures with us, and he gets to be a dog! I rarely write reviews, but Sydney changed our lives and we will forever be grateful for helping us with our big baby boy!

Sydney is AMAZING! Her handling skills are gentle (with just the right amount of firm), perfect combination for Jetty to build confidence. This program is SO worth the investment. I love the folder that I received today so I can continue to be consistent with the words he has been trained with the past 2 weeks & all the videos I received I can go back to review if I need a refresher. Jetty will see you again in his teen years. Thanks so much!!!!

Before dropping Addie off with Sydney our trainer, Addie would bark at everything that moved. A dog walking outside the window, people running, squirrels, anything. She would also pull super bad when we went on walks. We have tried training with her before and had the shock collar, but I felt like I was not going to win her battle. It was when I went to dinner with friends with Addie that I decided I needed help. The entire dinner, Addie barked at everything she saw that moved or heard an unfamiliar sound, to the point that I had to put her in the car while we ate. I knew of Sydney because my mom sent her dog, Phil, to get trained with her, so I reached out to Sydney to get some help. We sent Addie down to Sydney for a month for the off leash training program. The updates I received almost every day in the Dropbox folder were amazing! She would send update pictures of Addie on their adventures or with her son playing. When the month ended, Sydney drove over 3 hours to Charlotte to do her end of program hand-off and training with us owners.
We spent over 4 hours working on everything Addie learned from meeting people, seeing people she loved, walking, and off leash recall. Now, I can take Addie on walks and not be scared that she is going to pull my arm off or take off towards something barking at any moment. We took her to eat and the entire time she just sat there patiently with kids running around and screaming (this was previously a trigger). I can take her to campus and be around people with her off leash, and when we recall her she comes back. When she hears dogs barking she just grumbles instead of screaming her head off. I am so grateful for everything Sydney did for us and Addie and I can't wait to continue working with Addie on the things she learned. The dog pictured is one that Addie loves in our neighborhood and before training, she screamed and pulled like a 3 year old toddler to get to it. Now she is patient and doesn't scream her head off!

We recently had our Cane Corso pup go through the 2 week board and train program. Sydney was so great to him and taught him so much. She was super knowledgeable and gave us daily updates with videos and photos. We got to stay in the loop and really appreciated and could learn what they were practicing on as well. Our pups progress from Day 1 to the end was transformative and we can’t wait to continue his training at home. We really hope to be able to do one of the other board and trains as our pup gets older. Thank you !!!

I cannot recommand Sydney enough as a trainer. We have a 3 month old puppy and knew we wanted some training foundation. Sydney was great a communicating, and I could tell that she truly loves and cares about the dogs. I think my favorite part was being able to watch videos and see pictures on social media while she's away at training.
Overall we had an amazing experience from beginning to end.

I cannot recommend Sydney enough! We sent our first ever puppy, Chuck, for the Puppy Foundations board and train with her and it was the best decision. We were originally so sad to leave him, but the second we met Sydney, we knew he was going to be loved on and cared for SO well with her! The daily video updates she sent were beyond helpful (and so fun to watch what Chuck was learning), and she always took the time to answer all of our questions throughout the process. Sydney spent hours with us on his go-home day to teach us all the ropes, and we are AMAZED at Chuck’s progress in two weeks! He has the same fun-loving, goofy personality but has learned how to settle himself to relax, and a ton of foundational skills obedience-wise. The biggest thing was that we now feel we have so many tools in our belt to continue his training, and are a million times more equipped and confident to raise our sweet pup to his best potential!

I had a fantastic experience with Sydney with our 7 month old lab, Bailey Cara. I was initially skeptical due to a prior board and train with another company and a previous lab, but my concerns were soon addressed by Sydney.. From the beginning of our discussions, they took the time to talk us through the entire process and assure us that they would be communicating progress on a regular basis and keeping us in the loop. Sydney was the best trainer possible and went above and beyond in working with Bailey to address the behavioral issues that we were concerned about in a very loving and caring manner. The daily videos showed and amazing transformation of our excitable young pup into a well- mannered and much more controllable member of our family! On the final day of training, I was reunited with Bailey and Sydney spent almost an entire day taking me through and showing me the things she had learned. All I can say is that I felt like she was a different pup! Same loving spirit in a pup that was now ready to go on walks, greet new people and dogs, experience new surroundings, and be as comfortable in quiet time as much as she enjoys the 'Zoomies'! In a two-week span, Sydney formed a life-long bond with Bailey and did an amazing job of training her in a professional, caring and loving manner!
I would highly recommend Sydney to anyone looking to transform their four legged family member into a trusted companion for life!

We can’t say enough about Sydney. She was professional, friendly, and answered all our questions. Sydney was remarkable. We rescued, a lab/ golden retriever. She’s very sweet, but having 4 kids, and 6 grandkids, our home, can get very hectic. We wanted Ruffles to have really good manners, no jumping, no chewing, walking nicely on a leash. We knew this was a tall order. After Sydney, came to our home, we knew Ruffles would be in good hands. After Ruffles lived with Sydney and her family for 2 weeks, all our expectations were exceeded.we also enjoyed the daily videos.
She’s like a different dog, so we’ll behaved, yet still her happy sweet self.

I sent my dog Alvin a (shihpoo) to Sydney and I have to say I am very very happy I did! Alvin had many issues--one was that he was terrified to go out for walks (lack of confidence).
After completing training, he came back so confident and now he loves going out for walks with me! My trainer, Syndey, was awesome! She was so patient, helpful, and knowledgeable with me to make sure I knew how to continue the training that Alvin received. Alvin came back a new dog and I learned a whole lot about my dog and training him!

I am so pleased after working with Sydney Thrana. I truly appreciate her skills and patience
with me during our lessons. She gave me the confidence I needed to work with my dog Zoey and her reactivity. We now can approach several dogs that she used to react so strongly to at first. Even my neighbors can not believe the improvement. She continues to do better on walks.
